Call for bin collections review following month of arctic standstill

Cllr Andrew Marchington (Lib Dem, Golcar Ward) will today call on the Cabinet Member responsible for bins in Kirklees (Cllr Mary Harkin) to conduct a full review of arrangements for emptying bins over Christmas and during adverse weather conditions.

Cllr Marchington said:

"Environmental Services have been doing their best to collect bins during the snowy and icy weather but some parts of Kirklees have not had a grey bin collection since 7th December"

"Residents have coped exceptionally well in the circumstances but clearly we need to know that the backlog has now been cleared and that the council plans to take steps to make sure we avoid waste accumulating like this in the future."
