Thee sections of footpath are to be improved in Golcar using money from the Colne Valley Area Committee. £9000 will be committed at its meeting on Thursday 19th April 2007. The sections of path run between:

• Handel Street and Mount Pleasant

• Handel Street and Rock Fold

• Brook Lane and Clay Well

Cllr Robert Iredale who holds the environment and transportation portfolio on the area committee says:

"This investment pushes forward the Colne Valley Public Rights of Way and Footpath Strategy. Well maintained and safe public rights of way are vital in the fight to reduce unnecessary car journeys and climate change. Uneven and broken footpaths also result in costly litigation for the council"
