COUNCILLOR ASKS FOR OFFICIAL REVIEW OF KIRKLEES ACTIVE LEISURE10.59.00am GMT Fri 28th Mar 2008 Kirklees Active Leisure and its relationship with the Council could be subject to an in-depth review, following a request that the subject be considered by the Council's Scrutiny Management Committee.
Councillor David Woodhead has requested that the Committee be asked to consider a formal review of the governance and monitoring of Kirklees Active Leisure and its relationship with the Council. This request follows recent widely-reported events, including the resignation of the former Chief Executive. Cllr David Woodhead (Lib Dem, Holme Valley North) said: "I hope that this issue does come before a full Scrutiny Panel. It is very worrying to read about developments and problems in the press without having the full picture. We need a thorough review to ensure that Kirklees Active Leisure is working effectively and to learn any lessons from the events leading up to the resignation of the former Chief Executive." Councillor Woodhead's request will be considered by the Council's Scrutiny Management Committee who will determine whether any review should go ahead.
