Cllr Kath Pinnock
Cleckheaton Liberal Democrats have launched a petition in the town to get action on the Park Fisheries building.
Cllr Kath Pinnock said, "The Park Fisheries building has stood empty for several years and is getting overgrown and looks dilapidated. It is at one of the busiest entrances to our lovely town and definitely gives a negative impression to both local residents and visitors."
Lib Dem councillors have written to Hunterswalk, the company who own the site on behalf of Tesco, and they have not even had the courtesy to reply. We asked them to do some basic improvements and then get the building used again.
We have also contacted Tesco head office to get some action. We are waiting for a positive commitment from them.
We have launched the petition and hope that hundreds of local people will sign to show their concern and outrage that Tesco have failed to keep Park Fisheries in good order and failed to get the building back into use.
Tesco make a profit from Cleckheaton shoppers the least they can do is show a greater commitment to the town by taking action on this prominent and attractive building at the gateway to our town.
