Cllr Kath Pinnock (Lib Dem Leader) has written to Cllr Hall to make certain that bags of excess waste aren't left behind at the kerb side when the bin men finally come to call.
The Leader of the Liberal Democrats in Kirklees is demanding that all excess bags of domestic waste that homes have piled up outside their bins due to missed collections during the public sector strike be picked up on this weeks rounds.
Collections on Wednesday and Thursday this week will be the first time in four weeks that 20,000 homes across Kirklees have their overflowing grey bins emptied by the council.
Cllr Kath Pinnock (Lib Dem Leader) has written to Cllr Hall to make certain that bags of excess waste aren't left behind at the kerb side when the bin men finally come to call.
Cllr Pinnock says:
"I have written Councillor Hall to make certain that people in my ward and in other wards across Kirklees that were affected by the poor planning for the strike aren't left with four week old rubbish on their doorsteps for another fortnight".
"The usual practice now is for the bin men to leave behind anything not inside the bins. But taking into account that this is not the usual situation, I would expect normal practices to be suspended and for the all bags - both those inside and outside of the bins - to be picked up and taken away".
"This is just common sense. The Tory Cabinet let us down in its preparation for the strike and to have not ensured this simple arrangement is in place would suggest they have totally taken their eyes off the ball".
