Cllr Woodhead (Lib Dem, Holme Valley North)
A local voluntary group which runs social activities for older people in the Holme Valley has been awarded £2,500 to keep their wheels turning. The group, called 'Friend to Friend', had previously received money from the Lottery Fund but this funding has now run out. Events run by the organisation include meals, arts and crafts projects, walks and outings.
The Holme Valley Area Committee, chaired by Cllr David Woodhead, has now stepped in to provide the much-needed grant.
Cllr Woodhead (Lib Dem, Holme Valley North) said "This organisation provides social events for some of the Holme Valley's oldest residents and helps to make sure people do not feel isolated or lonely. Keeping active is a massive part of staying healthy so the work is very worthwhile.
"The Area Committee has provided money before and I am delighted we are again able to help this service keep going. I know many local people value the Friend to Friend service."
