Lib Dem Councillors have hit out at the Conservatives who run Kirklees Council for failing to put any plans in place to catch up bin collections after the strike.
In total more than 84,500 properties look likely to miss their normal collection on Wednesday and Thursday. Almost 20,000 properties would normally have their fortnightly grey bin collected in the next two days. The affected residents will have to wait a further two weeks before their bins are emptied.
A further 39,000 properties on weekly grey bin collections will have to wait an extra week before rubbish is collected.
Cllr Kath Pinnock (Leader of the Lib Dem group) said "I can't believe the Cabinet have made no catch-up plans here in Kirklees - I know that other councils have made arrangements to get things back to normal as soon as possible.
"Some councils have scheduled extra collections on Saturday or Sunday to ensure bin rounds are caught up. Others have at least prioritised the collection of grey waste over green waste and recycling after the strike to make sure that food waste is picked up first.
"Everyone has known the strike was coming - why haven't the Conservatives put contingency plans in place?"
