Efforts to encourage residents across the Kirklees area to recycle their rubbish will be stepped up thanks to a cash boost from Lib Dem Councillors.
An additional £50,000 will allow the Council to recruit two additional Waste Advisors who will go out and talk to residents to help them manage their rubbish and cut the amount of waste sent to landfill. The money was included by the Lib Dems in this year's Council budget, a proposal that was accepted by other groups.
Cllr Ann Denham, the Lib Dem spokesperson on environment, said "It is vital that the Council helps residents to recycle more. Most people agree that there is a strong environmental case for recycling, but some of us are not yet sure how they make this happen and play their part.
"The Lib Dem group are really keen to see an increase in recycling which is why we included this extra money in our budget proposals this year."
