Castle Hill was left covered in litter with over flowing bins over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.
Liberal Democrat Councillors want arrangements for the caring for the site to be sorted out so that this does not happen again.
Cllr Ann Denham (Lib Dem Environment Spokesperson) says:
"There are clearly some issues with the running of the site at the moment".
"In fact, this is the second problem that has come to my attention over the Bank Holiday weekend".
"Firstly, staff illness means the tower can't open to the public. Then one member of staff being on leave results in the bins not being unemptied and the site not being cleared over one of the busiest weekends of the year!"
"Castle Hill and the Jubilee Tower is the major tourist attraction in the Huddersfield area if not in the whole of Kirklees. To let it be run down in this way must be quite shocking to visitors to the area".
"I urge the Cabinet Member in charge to address these issues ahead of the summer. If it's a good year, as we all hope it will be, we need the site to look at its best".
