A petition signed by 244 Almondbury residents is to be presented to Wednesday's Kirklees Council meeting by Linda Wilkinson, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Almondbury Ward.
A petition signed by 244 Almondbury residents is to be presented to Wednesday's Kirklees Council meeting by Linda Wilkinson, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Almondbury Ward.
The petition asks the Council to adopt and maintain a path off Stocks Walk in Almondbury.
"This path is well used by hundreds of residents to gain easy access to many parts of the village" says Cllr Wilkinson "It has been in a state of disrepair and neglect for many years and I have received a lot calls from people wanting something done to get it improved. The council adopting the path as a public right of way I feel would to be the best way forward."
A local resident, Mrs Christine Saville, who lives in a property adjacent to the path agrees and has gone to great lengths to organise the petition and muster local support.
"Mrs Saville should be admired her for both her efforts and community spirit. She is owned a big thank you from everyone" concluded Councillor Wilkinson.
