Ashworth Road Viaduct is to undergo essential strengthening and maintenance work at the cost of 450K.
The work, which will commence in January 2007, will last for approximately 16 weeks and involve Ashworth Road closing to traffic for 6 weeks. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout whilst suitable and short diversionary routes will be implemented when the road is closed.

Cllr Dennis Hullock (Lib Dem, Dewsbury East Ward) has welcomed the investment: "The Ashworth Road Viaduct was constructed in the 1970's. This essential strengthening and maintenance work will ensure that it is fit to serve the area for the next thirty years and into the future" said Cllr Hullock.
